Calm on the day, honest in the gallery.
I've been doing this for the better part of a decade. In that time I've learned the photos couples actually come back to are almost never the posed ones. They're the look someone gives across a room, the laugh that catches everybody off guard, the ten minutes you got alone before dinner started.
So that is what I shoot for. I stay calm, I stay out of the way, and I work with the light that is already there. Most couples tell me afterwards that they forgot I was in the room. That is the goal.
Your gallery should feel lived in, not staged. It should look like the day you actually had, on the best version of that day. No stiff group shots you will never print, no two hours of portraits while your friends are at the bar without you.
I'm based in Vancouver and I shoot all over the province. Sea-to-Sky, the Island, the Interior, the Fraser Valley. If you're getting married somewhere beautiful and slightly inconvenient, that is usually my favourite kind of job.
